There are countless tips these days on what to eat and what to avoid, and we have been chatting recently about our best tips for glowing skin, so we thought we’d share them with you.
Everyone in our office agrees that this is one of the best and easiest ways to clean up your diet. Incorporating more fruits and veggies will increase the amount of vitamins and nutrients your body gets.
Some of our current favourites are: tomatoes, which are great for reducing sun damage with high levels of antioxidants to aid collagen production; kale, which is high in potassium and Vitamins A, B and C; as well as avocados, with high levels of Vitamin E to boost the skin’s vitality and luminosity.
One of the main ways in which sugar can affect your skin is by causing inflammation, which then leads to breakouts and acne – no thanks! Our social media guru Amy tries to keep her skin clear by cutting out refined sugar from her diet as much as possible. She always checks the ingredients on labels when shopping, as even the healthiest- looking products can quite often contain a large amount of refined sugar.
This is a no-brainer but one that’s very easy to forget with our busy schedules. Water helps to refresh your skin from the inside out, as well as keeping it hydrated. If you need an extra boost of hydration, a great product for that is our Collagen Repair Night Crème with Plant Peptides to stimulate collagen.
If plain water gets a bit boring, we recommend you follow what our Product Development expert Vazi does. She starts her day with a cup of warm water mixed with some freshly squeezed lemon juice. Calming teas like peppermint or green tea are also a great way to flush out toxins and calm your body – definite office favourites!
Like everyone, we need to have a few snacks stashed away for any 3 o’clock emergencies when our blood sugar levels are low and we’re feeling tired towards the end of the day. Some of our favourite snacks are nuts, which are high in magnesium and Vitamin E, as well as some sliced apples with peanut butter – our kids love those too!
We definitely do struggle to say no to chocolate at times, but we believe that as long we have it in moderation, a little ‘cheat’ snack once in a while isn’t such a bad thing. What we do is to make sure that the percentage of sugar isn’t higher than the cacao – so the darker the better – and enjoy!
Happy eating for healthy skin…
