Don’t Let Stress Mess With Your Skin This Year!

Don’t Let Stress Mess With Your Skin This Year!

There’s no denying it - the start of a New Year can be fraught. Inevitably when we return to our “normal” life, the relaxing post-Christmas holiday vibe is a distant memory.

We find ourselves facing a mountain of washing, housework and going back to work. The ‘to-do’ lists get longer and longer and we find ourselves reaching for another coffee, leftover Christmas cake and glass of wine.

What we may not realise is that this stress is scientifically proven to have a detrimental effect on our skin. When we are stressed, our brain sends a signal to our nervous system to go into a fight or flight mode. When this happens, we release hormones and chemicals into the bloodstream that have adirect effect on the way skin functions and heals itself.

Eye Creme

One of the first places you see stress show up is in the eye area because the skin is so thin and delicate. Stress can show in the form of puffiness, bags, dark circles and lines and wrinkles. Caffeine, alcohol and smoking all have a part to play in these symptoms. Try using an eye cream that nourishes and replenishes the entire eye. Visible Lift Eye Crème has a formulation of certified organic Rosehip Oil and Vitamins A+E which will soften and smooth fine lines while firm skin for a visible lift. And who doesn’t need this over the Christmas season?

Breakouts are also common when your skin is stressed. Rather than overdoing it on the products, adopt the less is more philosophy and keep your regime simple. A gentle Moisturising Crème Cleanser made with Certified Organic Rosehip Oil, Aloe Vera and Beeswax will cleanse and replenish moisture, naturally. Don’t forget to moisturise as even oily skin needs hydration.

Jars

It’s also important, as we all know, to drink plenty of water and eat as much healthy and nutrient-rich food as possible. Maybe add a green smoothie to your morning routine for an extra vege boost or carry some nuts and seeds in your handbag for when hunger hits.

To help keep your stress levels down, try to schedule in at least 15 minutes of daily “me” time. This might be a quick walk around the block before your household rises or doing some relaxation and meditation before bed. Stress less and your skin will thank you for it!
